Prof. Felipe B. Alfonso

Executive Advisor of the AIM Ramon V. del Rosario, Sr. Center for Corporate Social Responsibility / Philippines

Prof. Felipe B. Alfonso died on 5th of April 2013.

He was the Vice Chairman of the Asian Institute of Management Board of Trustees and the Executive Advisor of the AIM Ramon V. del Rosario, Sr. Center for Corporate Social Responsibility.  He was also the Executive Director of the Center’s two-day Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility, an annual, regional conference on CSR. From 1990-99, Prof. Alfonso was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute and President of its fund-raising arm, the AIM Scientific Research Foundation (AIM SRF).


Prof. Alfonso had over 40 years of collective experience in conducting management development programs for private and public entities in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.  His consultancies have included Bank Umum Nasional, Citibank, N.A., Complex Kewangan, Lopez Group Training, MARA, PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia, San Miguel Corporation, Saudi American Bank, Unilever, Urban Development Authority and Volvo Malaysia.

Holder of the William Soeryadjaya Chair in Business Management, Prof. Alfonso was a Professor Emeritus of the Institute. He specialized in human behavior in organization for managers, general management, organizational development and corporate social responsibility. His research was focused on the management patterns of family-owned corporations and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

He was the Chairman of the Board of e-Meralco Ventures, Inc. (EMVI), and STI Inc. He was a member of the board of directors of several corporations. An active professional and civic leader, Prof. Alfonso was a former board member of the Makati Business Club and a member of Bishops-Businessmen's Conference, Management Association of the Philippines and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.

Prof. Alfonso worked closely with a number of socio-civic organizations assisting poor and disadvantaged communities. He was a Trustee of the Coca-Cola Foundation of the Philippines, First Philippine Conservation, Inc. (FPCI), Knowledge Channel Foundation, Inc., Philippine Foundation for Global Concerns, Inc., and STI Foundation.  He was also the Vice Chairman of the Lopez Group Foundation, Inc.
